Non-voter Fines – SMS Reminders – Darling Range

SMS messages are being sent this week to electors in Darling Range who appear not to have voted in the 23 June 2018 by-election, to advise them of the need to pay the fine or provide a valid and sufficient reason for not voting. Messages are being sent to those electors who provided a mobile phone number when enrolling. All other apparent non-voters will receive the second notice in the mail at their enrolled address in coming weeks.

September 2018 State enrolment numbers

The September 2018 State quarterly enrolment statistics are now available.

As at 30 September, total State enrolment had recovered to 1,622,723 after a decline in the previous period. Average district enrolment has passed 27,500 for the first time.

With enrolments having increased by over 150,000 electors since the last review of electoral boundaries in 2015, the average increase across the State in that time is just over 2,500 electors per district.

Non-Voter Fines – State by-elections

This week Apparent Failure to Vote Notices will be sent to electors in the Darling Range electoral district who appear not to have voted in the recent by-election. If they don’t have a valid and sufficient reason for not voting they will be fined $20 for a first offence or $50 if they’ve been penalised for not voting before.

If this might be you, or someone you know, visit Failure-vote for more information. Payment of fines is due by 26 October 2018.

Clifton Hills Primary School polling place no longer available

The Clifton Hills Primary School will not be used as a polling place at the Darling Range By-election tomorrow, 23 June 2018, due to an accident that occurred on the premises yesterday and the resulting clean-up efforts.

Additional polling place staff have been allocated to the neighbouring Kelmscott Primary School polling place on River Road.

For further information about polling place locations, visit the Darling Range By-election page.
