The next State general election will take place on Saturday 11 March 2017.
The period for candidates to nominate will open with the issue of the election writs on Wednesday 1 February and close at 12.00 noon, Friday 10 February.
To vote at the election Western Australian citizens must enrol before the close of rolls at 6.00 pm, Thursday 9 February. You can check your enrolment status on the Enrol tab on the home page.
The Commission has released a list of proposed Polling Places for the 2017 State general election. The list comprises of polling places across the State including Ordinary Polling Places and Drive-in and Mobile Polling Places for electors with accessibility requirements. Ordinary and Drive-in Polling places are open from 8.00am to 6.00pm on polling day. Mobile polling at hospitals and special institutions occurs at various times during the two weeks leading up to polling day on 11 March 2017.
The following amendments to the Electoral Act came into effect on 16 August 2016.
Early voting
The eligibility requirements for casting an early vote have been repealed. Anyone wishing to cast their vote prior to Election Day may now do so as a matter of choice.
