This week Apparent Failure to Vote Notices will be sent to electors in the Darling Range electoral district who appear not to have voted in the recent by-election. If they don’t have a valid and sufficient reason for not voting they will be fined $20 for a first offence or $50 if they’ve been penalised for not voting before.
If this might be you, or someone you know, visit Failure-vote for more information. Payment of fines is due by 26 October 2018.
With regards the Cottesloe by-election, non-voters who haven’t responded to the three notices they’ve been sent, now face having the matter referred to the Fines Enforcement Registry and the possibility of their driver’s licence being suspended.
