Cottesloe by-election - Counting finished for the night

Counting operations in the 2018 Cottesloe by-election have concluded for the weekend. As postal votes can be accepted up to 9.00am Thursday, 22 March 2018 counting will recommence at 1.00pm Thursday, 22 March 2018.

David Honey from the Liberal Party has already achieved in excess of 50% of the first preference vote.

City of Fremantle - South Ward fresh election

Voting in the City of Fremantle, South Ward election closes today at 6.00pm.

Any electors who have not as yet returned their postal vote may hand deliver them to the ballot box at the Fremantle Town Hall by 6.00pm or the City’s temporary admin office at Fremantle Oval until 5.00pm.

An elector who has misplaced their voting papers may apply for a replacement package at either of these venues until the times specified above.

Cottesloe by-election - Still time to vote early

With just under a week to go before Election Day, over 1500 electors have already voted in the Cottesloe by-election.

“This reflects a continuation in the popularity of early voting for State elections”, Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake said today.

Almost all of those votes have been issued at an early vote ‘pop up’ location in Cottesloe’s Eric Street Shopping Centre.

Mr Kerslake advised electors that early voting closes at 6.00 pm on Friday 16 March 2018.

Cottesloe by-election early voting commences

Early voting in the Cottesloe by-election commences today, Wednesday 28 February.

Eligible electors can vote in person at a pop-up location in the Eric Street Shopping Centre, Cottesloe between now and 6pm Friday 16 March.

This convenient location in the heart of the Cottesloe electorate will be open weekdays 9am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. The Commission is trialling extended early voting opening hours at this location.

Cottesloe by-election candidate list

Nominations for the 17 March by-election for the State electoral district of Cottesloe closed today at 12.00 noon. A total of seven candidates nominated, four representing a political party and three independents.

The returning officer, David Payne, undertook the draw for ballot paper position at the Cottesloe Civic Centre. The seven candidates and their ballot paper order, is as follows:

South Australian State General Election

The Commission will provide pre-poll voting services for electors voting in the South Australian State General Election.

Electors can visit the Commission at Level 2, 111 St Georges Terrace, Perth, between 9 am–5.00 pm to complete an early vote (in person) from Tuesday 6 March 2018 – Friday 16 March 2018.

The Commission will be closed on polling day Saturday 17 March 2018.

Tasmanian House of Assembly elections

The Commission will provide pre-poll voting facilities for electors voting in the Tasmanian House of Assembly Elections.

Electors can visit the Commission at Level 2, 111 St Georges Terrace, Perth, between 9 am–5.00 pm to complete an early vote (in person) from Monday 19 February 2018 – Friday 2 March 2018.

The Commission will be closed on polling day Saturday 3 March 2018.

Local government elections update

The Commission is presently running three local government elections – extraordinary elections for single vacancies in the Town of Mosman Park (South Ward) and the Shire of Irwin, and a fresh election for a single vacancy in the South Ward, City of Fremantle.

Postal vote packages have been distributed and completed packages are already being received from eligible Mosman Park electors, with election day set for Friday 23 February. To be included in the count, ballot papers must be with the returning officer by 6.00pm on that day.
