Election funding reimbursement amount
The public funding figure has been updated for the 2017–2018 financial year to $1.889.
As at 1 July 2017, the figure used to calculate the reimbursement of election funding has been adjusted (based on CPI) from $1.869934 to $1.889 per vote for eligible candidates. Any candidate who receives more than 4% of first preference votes at a State election or by-election can apply to be reimbursed for election expenditure incurred. The election funding reimbursement amount, or public funding figure, is calculated on the 1 July each year, as prescribed in the Electoral Act 1907.
October Local Government Elections
2017 is an election year for local governments throughout Western Australia. Election day is 21 October, although most of these ordinary elections will be conducted as postal ballots.
While October may seem a long time away, key election decisions need to be made by local governments by August and electoral rolls close on 1 September.
The Commission is currently considering the appointment of returning officers and has begun to meet with known local government clients to discuss their requirements and election arrangements.
