Not too late to vote in Local Government elections

Electors who have yet to vote in the Local Government elections may still do so, but now need to drop their ballot material into their local council office.

Ballot material mailed now is unlikely to make it back on time to be counted on Saturday (21 October) but electors can drop their envelopes into their local council office during normal business hours, or throughout the day on Saturday. The deadline for receipt of votes is 6.00 p.m.

Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake advised any electors that if they have mislaid their ballot material they can call into their council office to have fresh ballot papers issued on the spot.

“The important thing is to get out there and have your say in who will be governing your local community”, Mr Kerslake said.

Results will be posted on the Commission’s website throughout Saturday evening.
