Enrolment for the 2017 Local government elections is closing at 5.00 pm this Friday, 1 September.
Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake has urged Western Australians to ensure that their electoral enrolment is up to date.
“If anyone is uncertain about their enrolment, it is easy to check. For anyone who has just turned 18 or recently changed address, it is not too late to get on the roll”, he said.
Electors can enrol or update their address details online at www.elections.wa.gov.au.
Mr Kerslake also encouraged Western Australians to put their names forward for election as local representatives.
“Like all areas of government, local councils make decisions that are important in our daily lives and we owe it to our community to take an active interest”, he said.
Election Day is Saturday 21 October.
