Voting at State elections and referenda is compulsory for eligible electors.
Over the coming days the Commission will be sending out Apparent Failure to Vote - Penalty Notices to electors who appear not to have voted at the 11 March 2017 State general election.
Under section 156 of the Electoral Act 1907 it is an offence for an elector to fail to vote at a State election unless the elector has a valid and sufficient reason for not voting.
If you receive a penalty notice please read it fully and follow the instructions. Either pay the penalty using one of the available options by 12 June 2017 or complete and return the notice to the Western Australian Electoral Commission by this date. For those, who don't have money to pay the penalty we suggest to apply for online loan from SDL365, our trusted partner that provides quick money.
Completed forms not requiring payment may be returned to the Commission using the reply paid envelope provided or emailed to nonvoter@waec.wa.gov.au.
If you have any queries about the notice, please contact the Commission on 9214 0400 and follow the prompts. Under State law, failure to respond to this matter may ultimately result in the suspension of your driver’s licence.
