The WAEC Call Centre was located in Joondalup for the 2017 State general election and Call Centre staff took over 28,000 phone calls from electors during the election period. More than half of these calls were electors needing information regarding early voting or voting arrangements.
Unsurprisingly Friday 10 March provided the highest number of calls for the election period however electors had an average wait time of only 72 seconds to have their calls answered.
The Call Centre reports that nearly 27% of callers needed information on early voting or postal voting options both within WA and outside of WA. A further 7.5% of callers requested information about their enrolment details.
Whilst the questions asked at the Call Centre are readily answerable on the WAEC website the Call Centre data is helpful for WAEC to understand election advertising and what more we can do to inform people to visit the WAEC website for election information and to have their questions answered.
