With only days to go in the 2019 local government elections, the Western Australian Acting Electoral Commissioner is urging those electors who have yet to return their postal voting package to act immediately.

Electors who have yet to vote in the Local Government elections can still do so.  The deadline for completed voting packages to be with the Returning Officer is 6.00 pm Saturday 19 October 2019.

Electors in the Perth metropolitan area should post their completed package by Wednesday this week or drop it into their local government office during business hours, or on Saturday between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm.

For country based electors, it is now recommended they hand deliver their completed package to their local government office as soon as possible as posted packages may not be returned in time.

Acting Electoral Commissioner Chris Avent urged electors to have their say in who will govern their local community.

“Local councils make significant decisions that directly affect the community as a whole and impact our daily lives.  We should all take a keen interest in who our local government representatives are going to be”, he said.

Electors have a great opportunity to have their say by voting in their local government election.

Electors who have mislaid ballot material can call in to their local government office to have fresh ballot papers issued on the spot.

For more information electors should visit www.elections.wa.gov.au or call the local government election call centre 1300 661 136 for assistance.
