The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly has announced the following dates for a by-election in the district of Darling Range.
Polling day will be Saturday 23 June 2018.
Nominations are now open and will close at 12:00 noon on Friday 1 June 2018.
With the electoral roll closing at 6:00 pm on Wednesday 30 May 2018, Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake has called on electors in the district to ensure that their enrolment details are up to date.
‘Anyone who has recently turned 18 or recently moved into the district of Darling Range needs to take particular care to ensure their enrolment is up to date’, Mr Kerslake said.
‘It is a very simple exercise to check’, he said.
Details can be confirmed or updated at www.elections.wa.gov.au or by calling the Commission’s helpline 13 63 06.
Early voting locations will be open from Wednesday 6 June at the Roleystone Hall, the Byford Village Shopping Centre and the Commission’s Perth Head Office 111 St George’s Terrace.
Mr Kerslake also reminded electors that the simplest and easiest way to apply for a postal vote is to do so online through the Commission’s website.
Electors may not always be aware that postal voting forms they receive in the mail unrequested may have been sent by and be returned to some political party, which in turn will pass the application on to the Commission. While parties have the absolute right to engage in such activity, the quickest and easiest way to apply is to visit the Commission’s website and fill out the application there and then, or call the helpline and a form will be sent out for direct return to the Commission free of charge.
