The 2021 State general election will be like no other.
The answer to COVID-19 is to plan how, when and where you are going to vote. There are more voting options than just voting at your local polling place on Saturday 13 March – these include postal and early in person voting.
If you’re concerned about voting in person you can apply for a postal vote online from as early as 4 February or contact the Commission’s Call Centre (13 63 06) from this date to be posted out an application form.
If attending an early voting centre from Wednesday 24 February or a polling place on election day itself, you will notice changes from previous elections to help safeguard the wellbeing of electors and polling staff.
These include, but aren’t limited to:
• Physical distancing rules will be applied when queueing, being served and marking your ballot papers
• The number of persons allowed within a voting venue will be in accordance with Health authority guidelines and the size of the venue
• Hand sanitiser will be available for use
• There will be regular cleaning of voting screens, common surfaces and touch points
• Electors are encouraged to take their own pen or pencil, but will be provided with a personal use pencil if required
• How to vote cards won’t be used more than once
Owing to physical distancing and social hygiene rules, voting may take a little longer than normal - so make sure you plan ahead.
